Yesterday's Mosaic Mural Dedication at Lamond Recreation Center was a great success. The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) and the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) were both in attendance to welcome the mural to the Lamond community.
The mural was created using over 70,000 tiles and 60% recycled materials--this complements Lamond Recreation Center's Silver LEED Certification.Students from nearby Roots Activity Learning Center gave a great vocal and dance performance. Artist Byron Peck and his team from City Arts were there to celebrate their hard work. Residents of Lamond gathered outside to see the mural and participate in the ribbon cutting.
